The Search Begins ....
I am a descendant of FRANCIS FLOOD of Chesley, Elderslie Twp, Bruce County, Ontario. Francis is the eldest son of JOHN FLOOD who emigrated to Ontario from Belfast, Ireland.
This website is dedicated to researching the Flood family's departure from Northern Ireland, the early years of their arrival in Ontario and Michigan, and the geographic movement of the descendants of the nine lines of John Flood of Belfast. It is a composition of my research notes; so it is dynamic ... changing weekly as I find new information.
There are six chapters, each with multiple web pages:
BACKGROUND
GUELPH
BRUCE COUNTY
CHIPPEWA COUNTY
ARRIVAL IN CANADA
ANTRIM, N. IRELAND
The TREE icons on each page allow you to move through the story. To go directly to a chapter, use either the menu bar or photo icons on this home page.
Why leave the beginning to the end? There are few documents available to enable us to confirm information about these early years, therefore much of this section deals with speculation, theories and resource links that may lead to further knowledge about our ancestors.
We all know that we are living in what's been dubbed, 'the information age', but it truly is a miracle to think that because we have personal computers and internet today, we can take a journey back in time to meet our ancestors and learn about their life and times.
I invite others to share their stories and in so doing, we will keep the memory of our ancestors alive for generations to come.
Please feel free to contact me about adding stories, photos and information on your FLOOD line.
